About Lori Moran
Lori Moran is an accomplished singer, actor, recording artist, and music educator with more than four decades of experience in professional performance and private music instruction. Since 1985, she has helped singers and musicians of all ages develop their technique, confidence, musicianship, and artistry.
Lori’s teaching philosophy combines classical vocal technique, contemporary voice science, comprehensive musicianship, and practical performance experience. She creates a nurturing and supportive learning environment while maintaining high standards of technical and musical
excellence. Her goal is to develop versatile, confident, and expressive artists who can perform across a broad range of musical styles while maintaining a healthy, efficient, and sustainable vocal technique.
Vocal Training and Teaching
Lori teaches healthy vocal technique and expressive singing in classical, contemporary, and musical theater styles, with specialized coaching for auditions, performance, and musicianship. Her teaching is rooted in the bel canto tradition of classical Italian singing, emphasizing efficient breath coordination, resonance, balanced registration, legato, vocal agility, dynamic control, and expressive communication. She combines these foundational principles with contemporary, science-informed approaches to vocal training, drawing on current understanding of vocal physiology, acoustics, and efficient vocal function. This integrated approach helps students develop a healthy, flexible, and expressive voice while learning to sing with greater ease and confidence.
Each student's training is individualized according to their unique vocal qualities, experience, goals, and repertoire. Lori works with students to develop both the technical foundation and artistic versatility needed for confident, sustainable performance.
Her students have earned top ratings in regional, state, and national competitions, received scholarships to colleges, universities, conservatories, and theater programs, and gone on to perform professionally on and off Broadway, in major touring productions and in prestigious concert halls worldwide.
Education and Professional Credentials
Lori holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Florida State University, with postgraduate study in vocal pedagogy. Her training has been further enriched through mentorship with Calvin Remsberg, the acclaimed opera-to-Broadway performer and educator, and concert pianist Leonard Gay.
An experienced music educator, competition judge, and adjudicator, Lori has taught in both public and private schools and has directed church choirs and orchestras. She has served as a judge and adjudicator for organizations and events associated with the Florida State Music Teachers’ Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and The Walt Disney Company. Lori is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, SAG-AFTRA, and NATS, where she has served on the Los Angeles chapter executive board since 2009.
Professional Performance Career
Lori’s extensive performance career encompasses musical theater, opera, jazz, big band, pop, orchestral performance, studio recording, and concert singing. This breadth of professional experience allows her to bring real-world performance knowledge into her teaching.
As a professional recording artist and session singer, Lori has provided feature and background vocals for major motion pictures and recordings, including Iron Man 2, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, 2012, and Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
She has performed with the internationally renowned Disney
Voices of Liberty, appeared on numerous Disney recordings, and served as a featured soloist with the Florida Symphony Orchestra, Tampa Bay Oratorio, and Orlando Opera Company.
Her musical theater credits include Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Laurie in Oklahoma!, Fantine in Les Misérables, Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, and Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly!
Lori also released her debut solo album, On My Way to You, which received enthusiastic reviews from jazz critics and is available through major digital music platforms.
Piano and Musicianship
In addition to voice instruction, Lori teaches piano and musicianship to students of all ages. Her piano instruction emphasizes music reading, rhythm, ear training, technique, musical interpretation, and performance skills while incorporating repertoire that keeps students engaged and motivated. Her experience as both a performer and music educator allows her to connect technical instruction with practical musicianship, helping students become more complete and independent musicians.
Piano Lessons With Lori
Having studied piano from the age of five, Lori brings a lifelong love of music and performance to her piano teaching. She works with students of all ages and skill levels, creating lessons that are both structured and enjoyable.
Lori believes students learn best when they are engaged in music they genuinely enjoy. She incorporates pieces that reflect each student’s interests while also introducing new styles, genres, and musical challenges. With encouragement, clear instruction, and appropriately challenging repertoire, students often discover that they are capable of far more than they initially imagined.
Piano lessons focus on developing strong fundamentals of musicianship, including music reading, rhythm, ear training, technique, musical interpretation, and performance skills. Lessons are individualized to each student’s abilities, interests, and goals, with an emphasis on building both technical proficiency and musical confidence.
Lori’s goal is to create a positive learning experience in which students remain motivated to practice, look forward to their lessons, and can clearly hear and see their progress from week to week. By combining solid musical foundations with repertoire that inspires each student, Lori helps students develop skills that last while discovering the joy and satisfaction of making music.
